Landing Pages & Tracked Links
What these are
Section titled “What these are”A landing page is a named destination your videos can link to. It has a name, a destination URL, and an optional call to action. One landing page can be reused across many videos.
A tracked link is a short Hitfactor tracking link that points at a landing page’s destination. It gets stamped into a video’s description so you can measure the clicks and conversions that come from that video.
Create a landing page
Section titled “Create a landing page”- Go to the Landing Pages section.
- Click Create landing page.
- Fill in the fields:
- Name (required, for example “My Newsletter”).
- Destination URL (required, where visitors should go). The field validates the URL live and shows a check or an error.
- Call to Action (optional, for example “Subscribe”. Emoji are allowed).
- A preview shows how the link block will look in a YouTube description.
- Click Create.
Add it to your videos
Section titled “Add it to your videos”- Open a landing page by clicking its name to reach its detail page. It has three tabs: Overview, Videos, and Activity.
- On the Videos tab, click Add video to landing page. (You can also start from the Landing Pages list and pick up to 3 landing pages to stack in a video’s description, top line first.)
- Pick from the channel’s 50 most-recent Public or Unlisted long-form videos. Private and already-connected videos are excluded. You can filter the list and search by title.
- Confirm. Hitfactor creates one tracked link per video and queues an update to each video’s YouTube description to insert the short link and call to action.
- Each video’s description update goes through a status you can watch on the Links page:
- An Update pending badge while the description update is queued.
- An Update failed badge if YouTube rejected the write. Hover for the reason.
- No badge means the update succeeded.
Read your results
Section titled “Read your results”The landing page’s detail page shows:
- The destination URL and call to action.
- How many videos link to it.
- Total clicks and total conversions.
- The conversion rate (conversions divided by clicks, shown as a percent, or a dash when there are no clicks yet), in the details panel alongside the page.
A click is counted when someone follows the tracking link. A conversion is counted when a tracked action happens on the destination (for example a form submit), if conversion tracking is set up on your site. Numbers update live as activity comes in.
Destination URL vs tracking link
Section titled “Destination URL vs tracking link”The destination URL is where visitors actually land (your real page). The tracking link is the short Hitfactor link in the video description that redirects there and lets Hitfactor count the click.
